Informal briefing
The Department of Field Support will provide an informal briefing, to members of the Special Committee on Peacekeeping Operations, on the global field support strategy, on Tuesday, 1 February 2011, at 10 a.m., in the Economic and Social Council Chamber (NLB).
2011 substantive session
The Special Committee on Peacekeeping Operations will hold its 2011 regular session from Tuesday, 22 February, to Friday, 18 March 2011. The opening meeting will take place on Tuesday, 22 February, at 10 a.m. in Conference Room 2 (NLB).
In accordance with resolution 51/136, “those Member States which become personnel contributors to United Nations peacekeeping operations in years to come or participate in the future in the Special Committee for three consecutive years as observers shall, upon request in writing to the Chair of the Committee, become members at the following session of the Committee”. Member States wishing to submit such a request should address the request in advance of the session to the Chair of the Special Committee, H.E. Mrs. U. Joy Ogwu (Nigeria) (fax 1 (212) 697-1970); and are kindly requested to send a copy of any such request to the secretariat (e-mail to herity@un.org; fax 1 (212) 963-5305).
Member States/observers that are not members of the Special Committee and are interested in sending observers to this session of the Special Committee should send a letter to the Chair of the Special Committee, H.E.
